A Vance Twins Adventure at the Concerned United Birthparent Retreat

New Friends, Big Wins, and Big Laughs

We had the privilege of being part of this year’s Concerned United Birthparents (CUB) Retreat in Kansas City, and let us tell you, it was nothing short of amazing! From new friendships to incredible stories, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the city, the diversity of the people, and yes—the perfect weather!

Moderating the “Conceiving Christian Families / Deceiving Vulnerable Families” Forum

Jenette had the honor of moderating the forum Conceiving Christian Families / Deceiving Vulnerable Families, with Janine being one of the standout panelists (we know we’re biased, but it’s true!). The retreat was a huge success, thanks to the many brave voices who shared their stories and the following heartwarming (and heartbreaking) discussions.

Heartbreak & Inspiration: Stories That Fueled the Fight
As usual, many moments tugged at our hearts. Listening to the stories of mothers, adopted people, and families separated by adoption profiteers was gut-wrenching but also deeply inspiring. Retreat attendees left determined to become advocates and activists for much-needed change.

The Jackpot and Vance Twins Humor: Winning More Than Just Hearts
In case you missed it—yes, we won the jackpot! And yes, we’ll put that win toward pushing for change in the adoption world. Plus, it gave us more reason to bring our signature Vance Twins humor. After all, what’s activism without a little laughter?

A Twin-tastic Time in Kansas City
Between the forum, meeting old and new friends, and soaking in the beauty of Kansas City, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The stories we heard, the people we met, and the joy of standing together for something we deeply believe in make this retreat successful in every sense of the word.

We look forward to using this momentum to further our work. Watch out, world, the Vance Twins are just getting started!
