ABOUT VANCE TWINS LLC
Since 1984, the Vance Twins have worked together to encourage and uplift individuals facing life’s unexpected challenges, such as grief, loss, or accidents. Their life’s work began at the age of twelve when their father, a former aerospace engineer, survived a 100-foot fall from hang gliding, which resulted in a traumatic brain injury and a permanent physical disability. They became full-time caregivers to assist with his recovery and ensured he was cared for until his death in 2021 at the age of 90. In high school, the twins’ mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and passed away shortly thereafter. For twenty-five years, the twins worked in separate industries: Jenette in the healthcare field, and Janine immersed herself in researching and writing while serving as her dad’s full-time caregiver. Today, the twins have joined forces to bring about the best of both cultures. They provide mini personalized writing sabbaticals for non-writers. The twins also advocate for human rights and established the Adoption Truth and Transparency Worldwide Information Network (AT@TWIN) in 2011.
Janine is the author of numerous award-winning books that share their childhood personal experiences found in The Search for Mother Missing and Twins Found in a Box: Adapting to Adoption. Her books on philosophy include Going Back to Zen, The Power of Isolation, and Master Adoption: Claim Your Authentic Power specifically dedicated to fellow adoptees. She has also researched and written on the history of adoption, most notably, Adoption History: An Adoptee’s Research into Child Trafficking.
The Vance twins compiled Adoptionland: from Orphans to Activists and The Unknown Culture Club: Korean Adoptees, Then And Now. Jenette is a Reiki Master and utilizes 25+ years of experience working with clients in skilled nursing facilities to aid in independence after injuries and surgery. Together the Vance twins host private writing sabbaticals in the United States for non-writers intended to, as Janine says, “turn grief into good grief.”
